Demolition
230
P. Olesen is one of Denmark's largest demolition specialists, carrying out everything from small demolition projects to complex industrial dismantling and large infrastructure projects across the country. The company employs 230 permanent staff, supported by between 150 and 300 temporary workers depending on project activity. Projects range from private buildings to bridges, industrial facilities and major power stations. These often require highly specialised planning, environmental management and selective demolition. With employees spread across multiple sites every day, effective communication is essential.
When Tina Kortbæk Jensen joined P. Olesen five years ago, Ziik had just been introduced. She wasn't involved in selecting the platform, but she quickly understood why a company like P. Olesen needed it. Office staff naturally communicate through Teams, emails and face-to-face conversations. Employees working on demolition sites don't have that luxury. But for a business with hundreds of employees working across Denmark, creating that connection is just as important as distributing information.
"They also need to know what's going on," Tina Kortbæk Jensen says. "And it's important that we have a direct line out to them, and that they have one back to us."

Although Tina wasn't involved in choosing Ziik, she has spent the last five years developing how P. Olesen uses it. The ambition has always been straightforward:
Today, Ziik has become exactly that.
Keeping everyone connected
The most important feature at P. Olesen is the feed.
"It's our noticeboard and our most important internal communication channel," Tina Kortbæk Jensen explains.
News, safety information, new colleagues, birthdays, anniversaries, major contract wins and practical updates are all shared through the feed, ensuring employees receive the same information wherever they're working.
"It's actually the feature I'd most like to see moved to the front page of the app," Tina Kortbæk Jensen adds.
Helping employees feel part of the company
For Tina Kortbæk Jensen, communication is about more than operational updates. Employees working on demolition sites should also feel part of the wider organisation.
"They still need to feel they're part of something bigger."
That sense of belonging matters, particularly for employees who may spend weeks on the same project without visiting one of P.Olesen’s five offices across Denmark. Ziik helps bridge that distance.
Making communication accessible
One improvement Tina Kortbæk Jensen is especially proud of started with an idea from P. Olesen itself. Some of their employees have reading difficulties. Others simply don't have the time or patience to read long messages while working. P. Olesen suggested that Ziik developed a read-aloud function for posts in the feed.
"Ziik picked up the idea very quickly," Tina Kortbæk Jensen says.
Today, employees can have important updates read aloud directly from the Ziik app, making communication more accessible for everyone.
Communication that reaches the right people
Not every message is relevant to every employee. Using groups, Tina Kortbæk Jensen can target communication to specific employee categories while still keeping company-wide information available for everyone. That helps reduce unnecessary noise while ensuring important updates don't get overlooked.
"It places quite a responsibility on me as the sender," she says. "We always try to make sure the information reaches the people who actually need it."
The feed
For P. Olesen, the feed is the heart of the platform. Everything from safety tips and company news to new colleagues, birthdays and major project wins is shared here.
"It's our most important communication tool."
Read-aloud functionality
Following feedback from P. Olesen, Ziik introduced a read-aloud function for feed posts. The feature helps make important information more accessible for employees with reading difficulties or who prefer listening rather than reading.
"It's something I'm actually quite proud of."
Targeted communication
Employee groups make it possible to send relevant information to the right people while avoiding unnecessary communication.
"It helps us communicate much more precisely."
Digital employee handbook
The employee handbook is available directly in Ziik, making important policies and practical information easy to access whenever employees need it. It's also introduced as part of every new employee's onboarding.
"People working out on our demolition sites still need to feel they're part of something bigger. That's why communication is so important to us."
